The article highlights the criminologically relevant attributes of armed attacks in
educational institutions on the basis of scientific publications. The article
distinguishes between acts of school-shooting and terrorism. The
determinants of juvenile violence growth, criminalization level of
educational environment in general, negative factors of school educational
process, deformation of educational influence system, absence of crime
prevention and counteraction distinctive system in Russian educational
institutions, availability of depressive-aggressive and near-suicidal content
on the Internet are studied.
An analysis is made of the research areas on school-shooting in foreign
criminology, among which those relevant to the study of school-shooting in Russia are highlighted. We define the school-shooting essence as a social
phenomenon; social background of juvenile's realization of an extreme
aggression form in the limits of educational organizations; the correlation
between the individual adolescent's predisposition to the realization of
violence and the external social situation of involving in the aggressive
activity is revealed. We established the criminogenic significance for the
subsequent cases of such informational coverage school-shooting events
and the role of other preconditions for the manifestation of extreme
violence forms among minors as well as the ways to reduce the
opportunities of teenagers' involvement in the realization of extreme forms
of aggression at the level of the educational institution.
